Three Precious Miracles recently contributed to the University of Minnesota’s Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) Spring 2024 Issue of CW360º Looking Back, Moving Forward: COVID-19’s Impact on the Delivery of Child Welfare Services.
The issue explores the lingering impacts of the pandemic on families and child welfare practitioners. Along with other leaders in the non-profit field, Three Precious Miracles Founder & President Elisia Manuel provides insight on the importance of preserving cultural ties through supporting Native American foster families before and during COVID-19, and the organization’s continued efforts.
Elisia shared that during the pandemic the organization leaned into support from partners to remain connected to families, including a new endeavor of creating 3D models of Arizona tribes which are still being shared today as an educational and interactive tool for Native youth.
More than anything … we found that focusing on Indigenous identity and culture is the most meaningful way to connect with the families we serve.
